1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of aegispublishing.org and any content, products, or services offered through it (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date, and where the change affects a purchase you have already made, we will not apply it retroactively to that purchase.
2. Who We Are
The Site is operated by Aegis Publishing LLC, a Nevada LLC (“Aegis,” “we,” “us,” “our”).

3. Eligibility and Age
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on the Site.
Our books are written for adult readers and contain mature content, including violence, profanity, frightening content, and adult themes. We recommend them for readers 18 and older. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian’s permission before purchasing anything or accessing our books.
If you are making a purchase, you must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract, or have a parent or guardian make the purchase for you.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your password secure and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
You agree that the information you give us is accurate, and that you will not create an account for anyone else or share your account with others.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms.
5. Free Reading Access
Some of our books are available to read free on the Site. Free access is a courtesy, not a permanent entitlement. We may change which titles are free, limit free access, or end it entirely at any time.
Free access does not transfer ownership of anything to you. It does not include the right to download, copy, redistribute, or reproduce the text.
[NOTE: This is the clause that lets you turn on the “profit mechanism” later without breaking a promise. Keep it.]
6. Purchases, Payment, and Fulfillment
Sold by us. Founders Club memberships and tips are sold directly by Aegis Publishing and are governed by these Terms.
Sold by our distributor. Print books and certain digital editions are sold and fulfilled by IngramSpark. When you follow a purchase link to IngramSpark, you are buying from them, and their terms, pricing, shipping timelines, and return policies apply to that transaction. We are not responsible for their fulfillment, shipping, or customer service.
Sold by our merchandise partner. Apparel and other merchandise bearing Aegis Publishing designs are sold and fulfilled by Cortland Falls, an independent company. Aegis Publishing is not the seller. All orders, payments, shipping, returns, exchanges, sizing, product quality, and customer service for merchandise are handled by Cortland Falls under their own terms and policies. Please direct any merchandise issue to them.

Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change without notice. We may correct pricing errors, including after an order is placed, and will cancel and refund rather than charge you a corrected price without your consent.
7. Your License to Digital Content
When you purchase or receive digital content from us, you are buying a license to read it, not ownership of the work itself.
What you may do: Download it, keep your copies indefinitely, read it on any device you own, and make personal backups. Our files are DRM-free because we trust our readers.
What you may not do: Sell, rent, lend, sublicense, share, upload, post, or otherwise distribute the files or their contents. Strip, alter, or remove copyright notices or watermarks. Use the content to train machine learning or AI models. Reproduce substantial portions in any form.
We give you files without technical restrictions on the understanding that you will not redistribute them. That understanding is a condition of the license. If you break it, the license ends.
[LAWYER: the AI-training prohibition is worth getting right. It is increasingly standard and increasingly litigated.]
8. Founders Club
[THIS ENTIRE SECTION NEEDS A LAWYER. It is the highest-value obligation on the Site and the one most likely to be tested. The points below are the structure to hand them, not finished language.]
Founding membership is a one-time purchase of goods and benefits. It is not an investment, a security, a share of ownership, or a right to any revenue, profit, or financial return.
Membership includes the benefits described on the Founders Club page as of your purchase date. Those benefits are personal to you and [ARE / ARE NOT] transferable.
“For life” means the lifetime of Aegis Publishing as an operating business, not the lifetime of the purchaser. If Aegis ceases operations, digital files already delivered to you remain yours, but no further benefits accrue.
Membership is limited to 10,000 purchasers. [CONFIRM whether the $1,000 price is fixed permanently or may change for future purchasers.]
If Aegis is sold or transferred, Founder obligations pass to the acquiring entity as a condition of the transfer.
Publishing targets are goals, not guarantees. Our stated publishing pace and catalog plans are objectives, not contractual commitments, and do not create a right to a refund if they are not met.
9. Refunds
Founders Club: Full refund within 90 days of purchase, no reason required. Requests after 90 days will not be granted. [CONFIRM: is the refund available if the member has already downloaded a substantial number of books? Decide now, because someone will do exactly that.]
Tips: Voluntary and non-refundable. No product, membership, access, or benefit is provided in exchange for a tip. Tips are not charitable contributions and are not tax-deductible.
Books purchased through IngramSpark: Governed by IngramSpark’s return policy, not ours.

10. Our Intellectual Property
The Aegis-verse and everything in it — the books, characters, names, places, artwork, logos, maps, lore, music, and design — are owned by Aegis Publishing and its authors and protected by copyright and trademark law.
Nothing on the Site grants you a license to use our intellectual property except as expressly stated in these Terms.
11. Fan Works
[YOUR DECISION. A universe built for fandom benefits enormously from an explicit, permissive fan works policy, and almost no publisher has one. Suggested position below — adjust or replace.]
We like fan work and we would rather encourage it than police it.
You may create and share non-commercial fan art, fan fiction, reviews, videos, and discussion based on the Aegis-verse, provided you: do not sell it or use it commercially, do not present it as official or as endorsed by us, do not reproduce substantial portions of our text, and credit Aegis Publishing as the source of the underlying work.
We reserve the right to ask that specific fan works be taken down, and to withdraw this permission generally, though we do not expect to.
This section does not apply to commercial use of any kind. For that, contact us.
12. Content You Post
If you post reviews, comments, or other material on the Site, you keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute it in connection with the Site and our promotion of it.
You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share.
We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion.
13. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: use the Site unlawfully; scrape, crawl, or harvest content or user data by automated means; circumvent access restrictions or security measures; upload malicious code; impersonate anyone; interfere with the Site’s operation; or use any Site content to train machine learning or AI models.
14. Third-Party Services and Links
The Site links to third parties including IngramSpark, our payment processors, our merchandise partner, and our email service. We are not responsible for their content, practices, or terms. Your dealings with them are between you and them.
15. Disclaimers
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content will be free of errors.
Our books are works of fiction. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or actual events is coincidental.
16. Limitation of Liability
[LAWYER: standard cap language belongs here, and the cap needs to be set against your actual exposure. A $1,000 Founders membership makes a low cap harder to defend as reasonable. This is one of the two or three clauses that would actually matter in a dispute.]
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aegis Publishing will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Site.
Our total liability for any claim will not exceed [AMOUNT — commonly the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months].
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Aegis Publishing and its officers, employees, authors, and contractors from claims arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another party’s rights.
18. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site or your account at any time for violation of these Terms.
If we terminate your account, digital files already delivered to you remain yours. Access to Site-hosted reading, community areas, and future benefits ends.
[DECIDE: does termination for cause end Founders benefits? If yes, say so explicitly. If a Founder pirates your entire catalog, you will want this clause.]
19. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms. Changes take effect when posted, with the updated date at the top. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept them.
We will not retroactively reduce benefits you have already purchased.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
[LAWYER: decide between (a) courts in your county, (b) binding arbitration with a class action waiver. Arbitration clauses are common for consumer products and meaningfully limit exposure on a 10,000-customer product, but they have their own drafting requirements and consumer-protection constraints. This is a real decision, not boilerplate.]
21. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Aegis Publishing regarding the Site.
